Booklet imposition reorders the pages of a PDF and places two of them side by side on each landscape sheet, so that once the sheet is printed double-sided and folded in half, the pagination reads in order. You start from an ordinary document with sequential pages and get a ready-to-fold booklet PDF, without ever working out by hand which page sits next to which.
Creating a booklet PDF is ideal for anything meant to be read folded: event programs, brochures, zines and small manuals instantly gain the feel of a real booklet. This PDF imposition spares you the manual layout and turns a plain file into a printable object that is pleasant to leaf through and easy to hand out.
A folded booklet is built from four-page signatures, so the total page count must be a multiple of four. If your document is not, the tool automatically appends one to three blank pages at the end to complete the last signature and keep the pagination aligned — this is normal and expected.
To print, choose double-sided with flip on the short edge: this setting is what ensures the back aligns correctly with the front once folded. Before imposition, other tools prepare the file: reorder puts pages in the right sequence, merge joins several documents into one, and nup places multiple pages per sheet without any folding logic when you only want to save paper. On privacy, your files are processed then deleted automatically, and no sign-up is required.
