A PDF is not always just a document to read: it can also carry embedded files tucked inside the same container. These often include a spreadsheet, images, a source data set, or the structured invoice held by e-invoicing formats such as Factur-X, where a data XML travels alongside the visible layout.
To extract PDF attachments is to pull those embedded files out exactly as they were placed, so you can open, verify, or reuse them in their original software. It matters when a partner sends raw data as an annex, when an accounting team needs to read an invoice's XML, or simply when you suspect a document holds more than it shows on screen.
Delivery adapts to the contents: if there is a single attachment, you receive it as-is, in its original format. If the PDF holds several PDF embedded files, they are bundled into one ZIP archive, ready to download and unpack in a single step.
